An Opportunity Unique To Our Family.
Those of us with the name Sinclair or one of it's many other
spellings are lucky to have a long history of well-preserved
documents to which we may aim our genealogy research.
|
The question for our family is not
'where do my ancestors come from?'
but rather,
'to which of the branches
of this ancient family
do I belong?' |
DNA testing, when combined with thorough and accurate documents research,
becomes a very powerful tool. DNA research without documents is like stumbling
around in the dark. Documents research without DNA, in our opinion (and we're
biased), is not quite accurate enough.
Our family is one of the more
well-documented ones in all history.
Now
you can have access to that research.
The major lines of this family have been traced by many people over the
years. But none more diligent or accurate than Margaret Stokes. Niven Sinclair
has called Margaret his 'personal sleuth.' She has found and corrected
inaccuracies in Rowland William Saint-Clair's work from the 1800's, the compiled
notes from Father Hay in Scotland. She has corrected many of us over
the years in our mistakes.
Now Margaret Stokes, FSA
Scot, is officially
joining us at St. Clair/Sinclair Research as our documents expert and making her
talents available to each and every one of our participants.
We stumbled upon the idea of using Meg after she made
it clear to Stan and I that she quite likely already knew where to look for our
immigrant from 1698, Alexander Sinkler. Meg identified a man from the
Brabsterdorran line in the 1600's as likely being our ancestor. I had ruled him
out as he had a wadset in Brabsterdorran and, to me, it made no sense for him to
leave Scotland. But Meg, knowing a great deal more than I ever will, made it
clear why this wasn't the case. I realized firsthand the power of Meg's vast documents knowledge and her ability to
interpret, from seemingly insignificant facts, what others cannot. The
combination of thorough documents research, tying each of us back to the known
line, plus DNA proof, gives our participants an unbeatable edge in their
genealogy research. Meg has breathed new life into our search for a linkage to
the family and she can do the same for your research.
Members of our project should get Meg
started on your line.
Lineage 3 - Richard Hugh Sinclair can now find out exactly how he
connects to Robert J.K. Sinclair who has gotten back to 1720 in Ireland yet no
further. Max Richard Sinclair can now find out exactly how he's related to this
line. Charles Frank Sinclair can help us solve exactly how the family of
Sinclair Bottom relates to the wider clan. Lineage 2 - There's so much more to
be discovered. All you folks not yet assigned to a lineage, get in touch with
us. We can solve this.
For Steve and Stan, Meg is already tracking down living descendants of the
lines from which our immigrant might have come. She already has an idea of
where to find these folks and we're very certain we'll soon be testing living
descendants of this line.
Specifically how this will work -
1.
Contact us and let us know if you're interested in taking advantage of
Meg's talent and resources. Trust me, you are.
2. Send Meg all you know on your line.
3. Meg will use all the resources available to her regarding your line,
including where your DNA is pointing, and begin to form hypotheses of where you
fit.
4. Based on what Meg thinks, we'll track down living descendants of these lines
and get them to test.
5. If you're a match, you'll know where you fit in the 34 cadet branches of the
family. If you're not, we'll keep looking.
6. By this summer, every member of this project could know precisely
where they fit !!
Meg is a professional genealogist.
Meg does this for a living. Her services won't be free, but they are
being offered
to members of this project at an unbelievably fair price.
