Argyle
With the testing of Muhammad-Luqman St. Clair and others we are beginning to
shed light on the questions of the Argyle Sinclairs.
Muhammad-Luqman has good documents pointing back to descent from Argyle. He's
connected directly to Peter Sinclair who also has a very good documents trail
back to Argyle. Their results are close enough to Charles Richard and Richard L
that I'm including them in our Lineage 2 (or Lineage C on the mutation chart).
Their
connection to this lineage is a genetic distance of 3 in total. You will recall that
Lineage C points back to Ireland and shares a common ancestor with other
Sinclairs likely back in Normandy. The connection to the Sinclairs is, however, absolutely
certain. On their 12-marker tests, they're connected with a distance of no more
than two.
We cannot yet prove that all Sinclairs of Argyle are
connected. In fact, we have more than one DNA participant who claims descent
from Argyle who match no one else in the project for about 1,000 years. However,
they do match the family back in France, Norway or Flanders.
With Toni Sinclair, I've begun to explore ways to test the
MacNokaird families of Argyle and whether they are, in fact Sinclairs who
changed their names. We have worked out a process for getting to the bottom of
this and will let you know when we get the first results in.
